Vitamin & Mineral Dictionary

Alpha Lipoic Acid: A potent fatty acid and antioxidant used to manage and treat chronic diseases associated with oxidative stress. It also helps with metabolism by converting blood sugar into energy and protecting cells from damage from harmful compounds,  reducing inflammation, slow skin aging and improves nerve function. It has been shown to help with diabetic nerve pain.

B-Complex vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6):

All B vitamins help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which the body uses to produce energy. These B vitamins, often referred to as B-complex vitamins, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B-complex vitamins are needed for a healthy liver, skin, hair, and eyes. They also help the nervous system function properly and are needed for good brain function. All B vitamins are water soluble, meaning that the body does not store them.

B1 (Thiamine): Helps the body convert food into energy, boost the immune system and plays an important role in the functioning of the nervous system. It can help avoid type 2 diabetes, several cardiovascular diseases, some vision and kidney disorders and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. It is also sometimes called the “anti-stress” vitamin because it can help the body withstand stressful conditions.

B2 (Riboflavin): Powerful antioxidant that plays a vital role in maintaining healthy blood cells and boosting metabolism.

B3 (Niacin): This vitamin plays a critical role in proper functioning of the nervous and digestive systems. It is also necessary for energy production and metabolism of fatty acids. It also helps to maintain healthy skin, nails and hair.

B5 (Pantothenic Acid): It is essential for the healthy development of the central nervous system, and is involved in energy production. Also, it plays a role in the development of amino acids, blood cells, vitamin D3 and other fatty acids.

B6 (Pyridoxine): It is needed to maintain the health of nerves, red blood cells, and utilization of energy from food.  It’s significant to protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, and the function of the  neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

B7 (Biotin): This vitamin plays a vital role in assisting enzymes to break down fats, carbohydrates and fats in food. Strengthens nail and hair, reduces skin inflammation.

B12 (Cobalamin): This vitamin is needed for red blood cell production and DNA formation.. It is necessary for proper central nervous system function. It helps provide more energy, healthier immune system, less allergies, stress, depression, more stamina. It is believed that, along with folic acid,  B12 may help prevent disorders of the central nervous system, mood disorders, and dementia.

Beauty Boost Injections (Biotin and Glutathione): To rejuvenate your hair, skin and nails.  perfect blend of  biotin that helps refine your hair, skin, and nails. Biotin, also known as B7, had actions such as strengthening nails & hair, reducing skin inflammation. Glutathione is the body’s master detoxifier by supporting liver function and clearing free radicals; leading to cleansing and lightening of the skin giving your hair & skin that healthy glow.

Calcium:  A mineral supplement that is essential for proper functioning of the skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. It is important for bone and teeth formation, maintaining body strength, assisting movement of muscles, assisting with nerve messaging between body and brain, helps blood flow, , and releases hormones and enzymes that help with body functions. There is some data to suggest that calcium can prevent colon cancer and help with weight loss, but this is inconclusive.

Folic Acid: Also known as folate, it helps in red blood cell productions, and making DNA and RNA to help build cells. It is also used for other conditions including depression, stroke, decline in memory and thinking skills, Women are encouraged to take folic acid before and during their pregnancies to help prevent certain birth defects of the brain and spine such as spina bifida.

Glutathione: This a powerful antioxidant which is a combination of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine.  Antioxidants are required in the body to repair and prevent damage and inflammation caused by toxins and free radicals. It helps detoxify the liver and flush out toxins from the liver. Levels of glutathione decline with age, but also possibly by poor nutrition, stress,  environmental toxins and heavy metals. It can help repair the skin damage caused by free radicals by helping to repair the collagen fibers and restore damaged skin cells.

Lipo (MIC)/B12 injections:  This injection, called the “fat-burner shot” is a combination of essential amino acids and Vitamin B12 that aid in the reduction of adipose tissue (fat). MIC is an acronym for the three amino acids : L-Methionine, Inositol and Choline.  They work together, along with exercise and a healthy diet, to increase metabolism, decrease appetite, gain more energy, and break down fat.  They have also been found to improve mental function and feelings of depression.

Magnesium:  Magnesium is a mineral that plays many crucial roles in the body, such as supporting muscle and nerve function and energy production. It helps keep blood pressure normal, bone strong and regular heart rate.  Those with chronically low magnesium are more likely to have elevated inflammation markers, which has been associated with heart disease, diabetes and certain cancer. Low magnesium  appears to be a risk factor for osteoporosis.

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine dinucleotide): A molecule found in every cell in the body, with the benefit of supporting healthy aging and treating age-related illnesses. It is essential for energy production, DNA repair and cell repair. It is used for drug and alcohol abuse detox in treatment centers. It has been shown to help with chronic fatigue and elevated states of inflammation such as autoimmune diseases. Natural levels of NAD+ decrease with age, and low levels have been linked to health issues such as premature skin aging, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, heart disease and vision loss.

Selenium: An essential trace element and antioxidant, Selenium protects against oxidative stress, helps maintain the circulatory system, keeps the heart and skin tissue healthy. It may help in the prevention of cancer due to its antioxidant effects and protection of cell membranes. It helps preserve Vitamin E, which also helps with cell antioxidant defense.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid):  As a vitamin and antioxidant, it helps wounds heal, better skin, strong immune system, and improve iron absorption. It works to  protect your cells against free radicals, increases collagen production and is necessary for bone remodeling. Vitamin C, also, has been linked to help lower the risk of heart disease, hypertension, stroke and cancer.

Zinc: Zinc is a trace mineral that has been shown to help boost the immune system, helps control blood sugar, and promotes a healthy cardiovascular system. Only a small amount of zinc is needed on a daily basis, but its role is vital for almost 100 enzymes to carry out their roles in the body. It has a significant role in the creation of DNA,  growth of cells, building proteins, and healing damaged tissue as well,
